Strange times indeed.

After repeatedly cleaning the flat, I was flummoxed as to what to do next. I had cleaned and tidied up my makeup kit. My makeup brushes were spotless.

I could not go down to the makeup school as we are in a Lockdown.

It was then as that serendipity played its part and a what’s app notification from Nuria Mbomio, makeup artist and dear friend, pinged on my phone.

She too, was spring cleaning …her attic!!

Nuria tells me when opening one of the many boxes up in her attic, she beheld a treasure of photos fromFinding Neverland.

This was a film that was made in 2004,  16 years ago!

It is a film about J.M. Barrie, who created Peter Pan.

For those of you who haven’t seen it , the film is based on a play called “The Man Who Was Peter Pan.”

It stars many great actors Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet and Dustin Hoffman to name but a few.

In one section of the film there is a fantasy part where Johnny Depp is dancing with a bear and loads of clowns pop up.

I was Makeup designer for the film and created the makeup for 4 different clowns. We then duplicated each clown  by 4 and then  when we filmed the scene, the lighting cameraman put mirrors everywhere like a hall of mirrors, it was really quite a glorious scene!

In another strange twist of fate, the incredibly talented set designer on Finding Neverland,  Gemma Jackson, also designs Guy Ritchie films that I work on and is also designing my current project HBO The Nevers.

I had such an amazing team of makeup artists on the main team and in the crowd room and to top it all the film was nominated for a BAFTA for its  hair and makeup work!

Thanks again, Nuria, for sending me these photos and reminding me of some great times!
