Visit CB*MA on our Makeup School Open Day Saturday 29th September 2018 – 11am until 4pm
Q & A back by popular demand.
You will meet our Prosthetics Tutor, Dan Frye, best known for his work on “Game of Thrones” , “Doctor Who”, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” and be able to quiz him about his past projects. Dan will also demo some of his Prosthetics works, so you will be able to observe him working his magic.
Our Fashion Makeup Tutor, Makeup Artist & Hair Stylist, Danny Defreitas will be sharing his Perfect Makeup tips with you – how to do a Smokey eye, perfect lips to name just a few. Danny’s clients include Rita Ora, Vogue, Wonderland Magazine, Rihanna For River Island, Jess Glynne, Karlie Kloss & M&S and he has also worked as a Makeup artist in the UK film industry.
Many of our Team CBMA graduates, now stars of TV, Feature Film and Theatres and Opera houses, will be on hand for one-to-one direct questions, so start making a list! We will inform you shortly who they are.
You will also be able to talk to our current students and see them in action, working on different projects at their work stations. An opportunity to ask lots of questions, feel the school atmosphere and spend, we hope, an enjoyable afternoon in the heart of Camden.
Purpose of the Day
The purpose of the day is to get a clearer understanding of what you may be getting yourself into. What will you be studying? Where? How?
Our makeup school open day is a very relaxed one. The emphasis is you seeing the school on a “normal day”. For the students it is having an extra day to really hone in on their skills that may be lacking.
Projects are set up for the students to work on. This will be the first time that they will be viewed.Refreshments are at hand for the people looking round.
We all understand that it is a big task to choose the right place of learning. The students have made that decision and so are perfectly apt to answer any questions that you may have.
We always hope that Christine will be on hand, to discuss technical questions and also to share with us her latest film projects. That part is always popular and exciting!
There will be a tutor at hand to talk about teaching techniques and their life as a make up artist.
Importantly so, there will be our graduates milling around helping you with other questions as to what happens after the course.
If you are still undecided about joining our TV and Film Make-up Academy, we would really urge you to attend one of our popular Day Taster courses. When we throw open our doors to welcome prospective students and offer you a taste of what it is really like to be part of the CB*MA family.
Just grab a cuppa and a biscuit, and join us on a tour of our exciting studios. You will have plenty of time to meet the staff, make-up graduates and students, and bombard them with all those burning questions you have been dying to ask. By the end of the day we feel sure you will know this is the place to start your career in film and TV make-up.

Get to us
You can easily reach us by tube (Northern Line, nearest station Camden) or by bus (24, 27, 29, 31, 88, 168, 253, 274).
Searching the World Wide Web is all well and good; a bit of window-shopping, but as they say the proof is in the pudding. Needless to say you must go and see the said pudding! At the OPEN DAY there is Christine Blundell; the tutor; graduates and students. Many differing levels of expertise. All are important to ask questions to. All have different viewpoints. There are the obvious questions of what do you learn? Who teaches? By coming to the open day, you will see many of the answers.
Atmosphere is important; do the students look happy?
At CBMA, we guarantee the course will be an amazing experience! Yet what happens after? Many schools, say they offer aftercare. It was a term we coined! Yet what is this aftercare? How does it manifest itself? You can read our aftercare on another page.
Some schools mention location; being in a studio or close to the school is ‘key’. We disagree! We have students coming down from Scotland and Yorkshire; even Spain and Italy to do our courses. Needless to say, we help them out with finding accommodation. Distance is nothing compared to an excellent education!!
Cannot make the Open Day, why not book a Studio Tour or better still come in and be a model for half a day?
