We help students understand what productions are looking for, how to communicate their skills clearly and how to present their training and experience in the best possible way.

Especially when applying for trainee and junior roles. We want our graduates to feel confident, professional and ready when those opportunities appear.
A slight caveat: we do not spoon feed our graduates, they must lead, and CBMA supports closely behind.

Because CBMA has been training hair and makeup artists for film and television for many years, we have built strong connections within the industry.
Film and television production companies regularly contact us when they are looking for trainees, juniors or new talent. When suitable opportunities come through, we share them with our graduates and help connect productions with artists who are ready to begin working.
This does not mean that work is simply handed to anyone. The industry still requires commitment, reliability, professionalism and persistence. However, having the academy behind you can help open doors and give graduates access to opportunities they may not have known about on their own.

Practical Help With Kit and Materials
Starting out as a makeup artist can be expensive. Building a professional kit takes time, and products such as palettes, specialist makeup, bloods and casualty materials can be a significant cost for new graduates.
Where we can, we support graduates by allowing them to borrow certain makeup products, palettes, bloods and materials for suitable jobs or portfolio-building work. This can make a real difference in the early stages of a career, when graduates are still building their kit and gaining experience.
We understand that talent and hard work should not be held back simply because someone cannot immediately afford every product they might need.
Continued Learning and Confidence Building
Not every student leaves a course feeling equally confident in every area. Some may have found a particular technique, model, skin tone, hairstyle or makeup process more challenging than others. That is completely normal.
At CBMA, we want graduates to continue developing. Where appropriate, we may invite former students back to assist as teaching assistants. This gives graduates the chance to revisit certain areas, observe demonstrations again, help current students and gain more confidence in a professional classroom setting.
These opportunities are paid, and they can be an excellent way for graduates to strengthen their skills, build confidence and stay connected to the academy.
Sometimes the best learning happens after the course, once a graduate has had time to reflect, practise and return with fresh questions.
